Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue

So Many Weimaraners Are Waiting For Forever Homes

GLWR is experiencing an influx of owners surrendering their dogs. Many purchased Weimaraners without fully researching the needs and traits of the breed; and are no longer working from home. GLWR's small team of volunteers are committed to keeping the dogs in foster homes and working very hard to find their forever homes.

Dogs

  • All dogs are being well-cared for in foster homes
  • Medical procedures/treatments are taking place
  • Meet & Greets and Adoptions are happening
  • We have lots of dogs of all ages available; and not all of them are posted on the website

Applications

  • Volunteers process adoption and foster applications within a week to 10 days.
  • Return calls, email and texts from volunteers quickly.  Sometimes we may have as little as a few hours to a few days to place a dog.  If you get a call - answer it.
  • Be sure you're ready to adopt. and can afford the adoption fees, vet care and food for 10-15 years.
  • Be prepared to drive to meet and adopt dogs. We serve 5 states and the province of Ontario in Canada. Some past adopters have driven for several days to get one of our dogs.
Please donate today if you can

Donations are always needed and gratefully accepted.
Without events, our bank account is especially low right now.
