Meet Vader Steel – Your Loyal Shadow & Cuddle-Bug!
If you’re looking for a constant companion, look no further than Vader. At 85 pounds, this handsome 7-year-old Weimaraner is a true “Velcro dog” who wants nothing more than to be close to his people. Surrendered after living with the same family since puppyhood, Vader is now looking for a new forever home where he can share his big heart and even bigger cuddles.
Vader is currently thriving in his foster home with two other dogs and enjoys their company—he’s an excellent playmate and would love to have a doggy sibling. He’s crate-trained, house-trained, and knows a whole list of commands including sit, paw, down, off, out, and come (he’s still working on “stay” with patience and encouragement). Food motivates him, though he eats at a relaxed pace and doesn’t guard his meals or toys.
This goofy boy does have one quirk—he can’t resist paper products! Newspapers, magazines, mail, paper towels, even tissues—if it’s paper and in reach, Vader considers it fair game. Otherwise, he’s easygoing and happy to share his toys, couch, or even your bed (he’ll sprawl out if you let him).
Vader loves being part of the action—snuffle mats, puzzle games, tug-of-war, yard play, or chasing after friends at the dog park. He especially enjoys the company of smaller dogs and recently discovered he’s a fan of swimming. You’ll often find him “play growling” with a big smile and wagging tail, or shadowing his humans from room to room.
Because Vader thinks he’s a 10-pound lap dog, he may accidentally bump or step on smaller children, so a home with older kids would be best. He’s curious about cats and squirrels but hasn’t been tested with cats indoors. He would be happiest in a home where someone works from home or where he has a dog buddy for company, though he can manage several hours alone if needed.
Health-wise, Vader is in great shape, with just occasional ear irritation that’s easily managed with soothing ear oil.
Vader will come with his own bed, travel crate, snuffle mat, toys, and plenty of squeaky favorites to help him settle into his new home.
