Meet Schultz – Our Lovable, Loyal Gentleman Waiting for His Forever Home
Shultz has been part of the Great Lakes Weim Rescue family for over 700 days, and while we adore every moment with him, we know his perfect person is out there—just waiting to meet this one-of-a-kind guy.
This handsome 8-year-old silver boy has a crinkled ear that only adds to his charm and character. He’s a quirky soul with a gentle heart, and he’s looking for a calm, quiet home where he can be someone’s devoted companion. He would love a human who’s home often and preferably a household with another mellow dog to hang out with when you are gone, Shultz thrives when he has a pack to belong to.
He’s not demanding—just a short walk or meander in the yard to sniff the world is enough for him. After that, he’s perfectly content to snooze on a dog bed that he’s carefully fluffed and arranged for maximum comfort (he’s quite the interior designer!). Shultz has also taken on the very important role of your official door greeter. When you come home, he’ll be there, tail wagging, ready to welcome you back with joy and devotion.
Shultz gets along well with other dogs who are calm and respectful. He prefers a slow, proper dog-to-dog introduction, and once he’s comfortable, he fits right in. He’s also a vigilant little guardian—always ready to alert you to any “stranger danger,” even if it’s just a squirrel with suspicious intentions.
He’s deeply committed to his human pack and does fine with guests who are introduced in neutral space slowly outside of the home in the yard. Once he knows they’re approved, he’ll happily welcome them as part of the extended pack.
Health-wise, Shultz is doing well, though he’s starting to show a bit of arthritis in his back legs. He may move a little slower when getting up (don’t we all?), but it doesn’t stop him from enjoying life's little pleasures.
His favorite pastimes? Backing up for butt scratches (his reverse "beep-beeper" is broken, so don't be surprised as he’ll do it anywhere—even when he visits you in the bathroom!), emptying the toy box, selecting jsut the right toy or chew and rolling around playfully on it before settling in with the perfect chew toy. And when it’s mealtime? Prepare for drama! He’ll flop dramatically on the living room floor like he’s wasting away—sprawled out like he would need a chalk line around him until the scent of rotisserie chicken hits the air. Then it’s happy feet time as he trots to the kitchen like a brand-new dog.
If you have room in your heart and home for a sweet, quirky, and loyal old soul, Shultz would love to meet you. He’s patiently waiting to see if there’s a spark—and we know that when the right person comes along, it’ll be magic.
