Meet Mara, a sweet three-year-old female Weimaraner. She’s spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Mara has quickly adapted to her in-ground electric fence and happily stays in the yard, even when tempted by critters just beyond reach.
With a typical Weimaraner energy level, Mara is playful during the day but settles down nicely at night. She is crate trained and sleeps comfortably in her crate, though she can experience some anxiety when her favorite human is away. A little anxiety medication helps her feel more secure during the day. While she enjoys roaming freely, she does exhibit the classic Weim counter-surfing tendencies!
Once she’s comfortable, Mara is an affectionate companion who seeks out pets and will return your kisses with enthusiasm. She can startle at unexpected noises but calms down with reassurance. Mara is sensitive and needs some time to warm up to new people, particularly men. It’s best to let her approach you when she’s ready.
Having been a wonderful mother to a litter of puppies, Mara does well with other medium to large breed dogs. Rescued from a home with reported domestic abuse, she can be apprehensive around men at first, but she warms up and forms strong bonds over time. Mara definitely has a soft spot for women! She’s cautious around stick-like objects, such as broomsticks, so a gentle approach is best.
Mara would thrive in a home with mature kids (over 12) and would prefer a calm environment where her humans are home most of the time. After settling in for about a week, her loving personality truly shines. She adores her nooking pillow and loves car rides; she even enjoyed her first boat ride!
This gorgeous girl is ready to be your new best friend! Mara will gaze lovingly into your eyes while you shower her with affection.
