LuLu is available for adoption! LuLu is a petite framed, adult female Weimaraner, with a gorgeous long tail and the softest ears we’ve ever experienced. GLWR & our Vet estimate her age to be 10, although it’s just a guess as her teeth show signs of wear consistent with chewing on a crate. LuLu came to GLWR as an owner-surrender after her family fell on hard times. LuLu has been with her foster family gaining weight so she could have a much needed dental, and a small surgery to remove tumors from her eyelids. With her glow-up complete, she is now ready for her next chapter in life!
LuLu is a low-energy Weimaraner. She is not an early riser at all, often having to be woken and motivated to come down stairs for breakfast and a short walk. LuLu does prefer soft dog food. She can be a picky eater, so we’d prefer an adopter who can accommodate her dietary preferences. She loves car and truck rides, and would rather go for a ride than go for a walk most days. LuLu has decent leash manners, and enjoys adventures to stores, parks, and walks. She is also familiar with drive-thrus. She seems to prefer small plain cheeseburgers, or a small fry.
She gets along with all other animals (she has been exposed to dogs, cats, horses, chickens, and puppies), and seems to have a low prey drive. She would likely do best in a home with one other low energy dog. LuLu would do well in a family with children, but should be supervised with small children who may be grabby. LuLu does not need to be crated, or want to be crated, and will try to go with you if you leave, but settles well on her bed or the couch after you are gone. She is used to being on the couch, but has been sleeping in her bed, or on the couch at night.
LuLu’s foster family lives on acreage, and so we know that her recall is OK and getting better as the months go by, but a fenced in yard would probably be ideal for her. She LOVES to sunbathe and would love to be able to do so at her pleasure in a fenced backyard.
LuLu is sweet and gentle, and generally very quiet. Usually only barking in her dreams, or if she’s been left alone for too long. She can generally hold her bladder several hours, but has been known to have an accident in the house if you are gone for longer than that. LuLu is being fostered in Chelsea, MI. Please consider putting in an application with GLWR if you’d like LuLu to join your family.
