Hi guys! My name is Annie and I am a 12 month old female. I am very sweet and energetic and I love people, especially kids! I am a very nice pup, but I do need some help learning my basic commands. Its not that I don’t want to, nothing like that, it’s just that no one has ever taken the time to show me these things. I am very eager to learn and please.

I am a smaller girl, stocky, but only about 50 lbs. I have a very kind heart and I wouldn’t hurt a fly. I do have one weakness…shoes! But my foster Mom is working on teaching me what is a toy and what is not, and I am really starting to understand.

I am just a pup in need of a loving forever home.

BLUE is a 3 year old silver Weimaraner. He is neutered male, approximately 75# with amber eyes and even has a cowlick on his neck. He is up to date on vaccinations and heartworm negative. His owners work all day and he is being left for long periods of time which is unacceptable to Blue. BLUE is housebroken and will stay in the crate but only for short periods of time before becoming anxious and disruptive. Blue does not jump on people, the furniture or countertops. He does not chew on household items. He is somewhat shy and submissive; not overly active.

He would be a great dog for a stay at home mom with small children. BLUE does not like taking a bath, being left alone for long periods of time or going for car rides (the car makes him sick). Although he has had no formal training, he does enjoy going for walks and prances nicely on his leash without pulling. He currently knows heel, come and sit. He likes to play chase with the other dogs and loves being with his people. BLUE is good with other dogs and even cats.

BLUE suffers from seizures. He has only had a few but the vet checked him out and can not find a cause. He is currently not on any anti-seizure medication. If you are interested in this sweet boy, you must first go to our website and fill out an application and be interviewed. We do not operate on a first come, first served basis.

Buttons

Hi My name is Buttons I am a 3 year old spayed female Weimaraner, and I am staying with my foster family in the Chicago land area. When I first came here to my foster home I was scared to death. I would hide in every corner, or under any chair or table till My new foster Mom took charge. She let me know there was nothing to be afraid of and that I could trust her and the rest of the family. I'm just a little shy in the beginning, so please be patient with me.  

Today I greet everyone at the door with my tail wagging. I play with my fur foster sisters and sneak into bed with my foster parents at night. They have many nick names for me like Mama, Pinkie and Dyna (for Dynamite) all of which will cause my whole little body to break out into wiggle fits of excitement!!  

Young kids scare me, even my 8 year old human foster brother. I am not mean to him, I just get scared when he runs toward me and I will go looking for Mom. The real little kids though can get kind of pushy and want to climb up on me. Mom says its because I am so cute and small I look like a permanent puppy. I am short but dynamite comes in small packages! Anyway I would do better in a home with older children (8 & up), or no kids at all.   

So if your a confident human with patience and would like to bring home one of the cutest little Weimaraners you have ever seen, give my Mom a call.

I would like to be able to settle down in my forever home soon!

Good day, my name is Chloe. I am an 9 year young female Weimaraner. As you can see from my photo shoot, I have a great smile. I won't mind being your only k-9, those crazy furkids can be a bit pushy and I, being the refined lady that I am, don't care for that type of behavior. But I suppose the right brother or sister might work fine. I do enjoy a nice stroll along the beach or sidewalk.

Yo Duke here. I am a blue male Weimaraner. As you can see from my picture, I am a solid dude and could use a walk or two a day. I love humans, but sometimes get a little carried away and don't remember my manners.

On the subject of manners I definitely would benefit from some obedience training. I am 4 1/2 years old, so I have plenty of time to learn. I would be too much for a family with small children. I just don't know my strength and could knock over a small child accidentally.

If you are looking for a dude that could use some fine tuning and some exercise, well I might be a good dude for you.

Fred here, how are you? I am great. I am a fun lovin' 1 year old pup and I am looking for a home to call my own! I am full of energy and surrrrreee could use some obedience training.

Yep, so far life has been fun, fun, fun. And then a little more fun. But I am hearing that it is time for this boy to settle down a tad and learn some manners. I think I would be good at that. But I just need the right human to teach me everything I need to know. You know it will take time and patience, but I bet I would make you real proud.

Major

Greetings everyone, my name is Major. I am a handsome 4 year old blue Weimaraner. There are lots interesting things to know about me, because I march to a different drummer.

I will need a family that enjoys a fun k-9. I enjoy looking up at things, if you have something in the closet on the top shelf, I will see it. And I will not forget that stuffed animal is there or that funny shaped what-cha-ma-call-it is on the top of the refrigerator. If a flicker of light from a flashlight comes along I will chase it. If there is no place left on the coach to sit, I will sit on the back or the arm of the coach. I love to snuggle at night and would love to sleep with you. I do not like to be crated, too confining for me because I need to be able to look around and investigate. I do like other k-9's but get my feelings hurt quickly if another k-9 doesn't understand my inquisitiveness and puts me in my place. I will cry like a baby, because even though I am 4 I feel much more like a puppy. I am an interesting fella, no doubt about it. And wouldn't the world be boring if we all were alike?

Max

My name is max and I am 7yrs old but very young at heart. I am a pretty tall boy, but very gentle. I absolutely love my people and get very attached very quickly. I love to cuddle and lay on my foster Mom and Dad. I will sit with you all day long. I like to play and exercise, but my favorite thing to do is be with my family....sitting as close as possible!

I am good with other dogs, and very gentle with children…although like most weimies I am not aware of how large I am, and occasionally may knock a little one over by accident. I do have a little problem with counter surfing. I have been doing it for a very long time so it might take a bit of work to break me of this bad habit. Just yesterday I ate a loaf of bread that my foster parents forgot to put up. Oops!

I am a great communicator and always let you know when I want something. I bark when I am hungry, or when I have to go out. I would really really love to have my own family to love and snuggle.

Merlin

Hi new family!  Merlin here!  I am a neutered male Weimaraner/Lab. mix with a special somethin'!  A tail! That is right, a cute long tail.  I have a beautiful white marking on my chest.  And I am about 1 year old.  My life has not always been fun.  I came to Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue heart worm positive.  I have now been through treatment and have a clean bill of health. 

I am very thankful that my friends here at GLWR helped me through the treatments and I am looking forward to meeting you, new family!  I will need obedience training and some patience, but I promise to try to be the best Weim for you.

Rosco

Hi there!  My name is Rosco and if you want a bundle of fun and love I am your guy.  I have the heart of a puppy, even though they think I am 2.  I started out with a not so great life, I was severely malnourished and then abandoned for most of my puppyhood, until someone very special brought me the Great Lakes Weim Rescue. My foster Mom does give me these glucosamine something pills, don’t worry-they are not expensive, just like vitamins.  I have to take them because I was so starving when I was little that my bones didn’t want to grow together right, and I will be prone towards arthritis.  So when you take your vitamin every day, I need mine too!   

I have very few inhibitions and am a little bundle of energy and laughs, but am also so incredibly loving and loyal.  My foster Mom says I want my own home worse than any foster she has had before!  It’s because I never have had my own house, or my own people, and now I have a taste of it and I love it so much I can hardly hold It in!  This is why you have to be a little patient with me…I do get very silly and I steal toys that sometimes aren’t mine.  But with some obedience training and practice I will be the best dog you can imagine.  Sometimes Mom hears a splash and that means that I decided to swim in the round pool out back by myself.  Don’t worry, she says it’s okay because I am a really really good swimmer.  

I would love for you to come meet me, so I can show you how much love I have to give.

Hello my name is Roxy.  I am a 2 year old female Weimaraner.  I have a colic on my neck, that is rather cute.  When I first came into rescue, I was crated and I hated it! I did not do well in a crate.  But now my foster mom puts me in a kennel run when I go out and I love it!  Crating is not for me and I am a happier girl now that I am not crated.

Hello my name is Willow. I am an 8 year old spayed female Weim. Yes, I know, I hardly look a day over 5.

I am an owner surrender due to a new baby in the house. You see, I was the baby for many years and it was hard for me to adjust to not being the baby. So I am looking for a home with no small children.
